Inovair’s Blower Installation Featured in TPO Magazine’s May 2023 Issue

Showcasing the treatment facility in Paducah, Kentucky, and its blower upgrade results, Treatment Plant Operator (TPO) Magazine highlights the benefits of the Inovair blower system. The article, entitled “Gear-Driven High-Efficiency Blowers From Inovair Deliver Substantial Savings,” outlines the air supply problems the plant was having, why they felt Inovair was the best solution, and the satisfying results since the Inovair blowers were installed in January 2021. The following is a brief synopsis of the article in TPO:

The primary challenge Paducah McCracken County Joint Sewer Agency dealt with was too much or not enough air supply in its clean-water plant’s aeration basins. The treatment facility previously relied on three multistage blowers to feed oxygen to its six 250,000-gallon aeration basins. In Spring and Fall, running one multi-stage blower wasn’t enough, but two was too much. There was no middle ground.

Looking to optimize aeration, the team hired an engineering firm to research new options. Their search pointed the agency toward the Inovair blower solution. They appreciated the simple and functional design, in addition to the impressive efficiency and reliability claims. Along with an appealing design, the decision came down to efficiency and capital cost, both of which favored Inovair.

The treatment plant’s air flow is now supplied by a pair of 125 hp Inovair IM-30 high-efficiency blowers, arranged in a stacked configuration and plumbed to operate independently, or collectively if needed.

The installation of the Inovair units was actually performed by the Padukah plant maintenance team. DIY is yet another benefit to Inovair’s simple design and world-class support staff. In addition, the previously purchased VFDs were compatible with the new blowers.

The units have been running since January 2021 and, according to the plant’s maintenance supervisor, they have been flawless. Most of the time the plant runs only one blower, using the other as a backup, or for support if the first unit isn’t providing enough airflow.
